NC Immunizations Requirements and Exemptions

North Carolina state law (General Statute 130A-155.1) requires
anyone entering college to present a certificate of immunization
that documents their compliance with all required immunizations.

The statute applies to all college and university students, except:

  1. Students taking all classes 3:30pm or later.
  2. Students taking classes which only meet off-campus.
  3. Students taking no more than four day credit hours in
    on-campus courses.
  4. Students taking weekend classes only.

If at any time, the above student status changes to: on-campus
courses, course load of more than four credit hours, on-campus
residence, and/or enrollment in day-time courses, a certificate
or record of immunization must be presented on or before the
date the person first registers for a quarter or semester. If the
exempt student transfers, interrupts study for six (6) months or
more, or graduates, the statute is applicable upon re-entry to a
college or university.
